The story

A painterly trompe-l'œil of a hand lowering a pail brimming with red crabs — one clambering over the rim to escape — painted on a shuttered shopfront at Dyers Wynd, just off Paisley Cross.

It's a knowing nod to the old "crab bucket" idea: a pail of crabs needs no lid, because the moment one tries to climb out the others drag it back down. Painted in Mark Worst's loose, oil-sketch style, the loaded brush-strokes give the shells a wet, glistening weight against the cool grey wall.

You'll find it on Dyers Wynd, the narrow lane off the High Street near Paisley Cross — a free, self-guided walk that takes in painted walls across the old town-centre streets.

The mural is on a public street, free to view, and visible day or night — though you'll get the best photos in daylight. Use the interactive trail map to plan your walk.
